(Vatchi): "Sane in all other respects, but alcoholic still" you ask, Sotto. You can take the alcohol out of the alcoholic, but I think there is residual insanity, even for those who start out being perfectly sane. Alcohol changes everything. One bad insanity spoils the whole bunch.
I love my optimal delusions. Here's a good one: When I drink, from the outside, all that others see is my selfish motives. That's an illusion. From the inside, I am empty, an emptiness which alcohol promises to fill, but never does.
